From the UK 41% do not wish to rack up any debt this Christmas. Most of the spending will be done on partners and children. Spending is considered to be less than previous years due to the recession. electronic items will feature prominently among gifts this year.

The US also seems to share the holiday shopping trends of gifting electronic items and the fact that the average spend in less than in previous years. Average spend on gifts for family is said to be $421 as opposed to about £430 in the UK. What is interesting is that 70% of the people asked in the US said that the current state of the economy is impacting their overall spending plans this season.
